ASIA TRIP 2024 – China – JULY 12
I didn’t take many photos the first day in China. It was very hot during our time there and I didn’t spend much time outdoors because I didn’t want to immediately become drenched in sweat. Most days were around 96ºF with a few days over 100ºF. Also not long after we arrived I ended up getting sick with a cold so I spend several days resting and keeping away from everyone else just in case I had something more serious than a cold.
At first I thought it was because it was too hot, but later I learned that the reason there weren’t any people here was because some new shopping centers opened on the other side of town. It seems the locals abandoned this area for the most part which is sad for all the privately own family businesses. Things seem to change quickly in China.
Some of these places weren’t open on this particular day, others had been closed for years.
Wasn’t expecting the rice to be presented this way.
Outside of the local arcade was some more video games. On the right side of the frame are consoles (Xbox/Playstation) and couch. These are pay to play systems. I assume this exists since most kids probably don’t own consoles.
I’m not sure what the premise for this games was, but the rifles had simulated recoil which I found surprising.
I’m not used to seeing live animals in an arcade. I supposed it’s not any different than some of the carnivals in the U.S.
What you can’t really see in the photo is the water jets pushing the baby turtles around and around as if they were trapped in a whirlpool. I can only assume the poor little turtles have short lives and die from exhaustion since they’re swimming non-stop in a relentless and strong current with nowhere to stop and rest.
