ASIA TRIP 2024 – CHINA – JULY 23
On this day we spent the time with family. We went out to eat at a restaurant on the beach followed up by a visit some newly developed areas that had only just started being built in 2018 during our previous visit.
The view from our dining room at the beachside restaurant. The Fuzhou Airport is just north of here so we would see a constant stream of airplanes arriving.
This is from the same location, just looking more to the south.
The tradition of drinking tea in China can be experienced in lots of places. Since we tended to dine with larger groups of friends and family we would very often be seated in a private dining room. Most of these private dining rooms had a dedicated tea table for people to enjoy while the food was being prepared. I really enjoyed this tradition.
A quick shot of our dining room after we finished our meal.
I just liked the way the clouds framed the plane, so I took a picture.
The lobby of this restaurant was quite luxurious. I’d be curious to know if the artwork hanging from the ceiling has any meaning or represents anything.
It wasn’t uncommon for me to come across situations that seemed completely random. This was one of them.
I’m sure there has to be more to this than I’m aware of. I didn’t see anything to the right or left as we approached so I have no idea what the explanation would be.
These were located under a large pavilion just near a newly developed area. I have no idea if they’re just stationary bicycles for exercise or if there’s something more to them.
I didn’t see much to really explore or photograph but I was curious just how long this path was. I also wondered if these little cars were for entertainment purposes or if they were for tours of the area. I’d assume the former.
Not quite like the one in Philadelphia. I don’t want this to come off as critical or judgmental, but one thing I noticed about a lot of things in this particular area of China is that when things are new they look great, but after that it seems that most things are not maintained and seem to be left to deteriorate.
It seems they were taking all the boats out of the water. Unfortunately I don’t know the story for this.
This is the first time I’d seen people actually use this waterway.
There was no signage in English and no one to ask, so I’m not sure what this large building is.
This is the information center for the newly developing area. It houses scale models of the area from the airport all the way out to the edge of Fuzhou. As far as I know this information center is for investors and consumers alike.
This is the area we were in. The waterway to the left of the frame is the same waterway seen in the photos above.
Find the diamond on the road running vertically through the middle of the frame and just to the left of that is the building where this scale model is displayed.
This model shows part of the costal region of Fujian with the airport on the right and the edge of Fuzhou in the back corner.
There were several of these placed throughout the interior.
In certain areas there seems to be no rules whatsoever.
I little shopping area with some restaurants.
Most of these signs are for rooms available to rent.
Wasn’t expecting to see the Stars and Stripes on a little train ride.
The cartoon characters on the sign is what caught my attention. It’s nice to see that the owner seems to be in a better mood than the characters.
This image didn’t do the sunset justice. I only had very brief glimpse of the sunset between the trees. Most of the time there were much larger trees closer to the road blocking my view. Also the clouds were moving somewhat quickly so the sun only poked through briefly as well.
On our way back home we’d usually take this road. I enjoyed the view from this road and wish I could have stopped to take some photos. Next time I visit, I hope to get a Chinese drivers license and rent a car so I can explore more of the area.
