ASIA TRIP 2024 – CHINA – JULY 26

It was nice to be outside the day after the typhoon. The weather wasn’t quite as hot as it had been, although it was still hot. We had some errands to do this day but I brought my camera with me and tried to dedicate some time to documenting life in Changle.

Cleaning up some of the debris the day after Typhoon Gaemi

Baby on board.

As far as I know these buildings cover multiple different decades all in one space. In what appears to be additions and modifications, you can see how the styles change as well as the construction quality.

My intention isn’t to make fun, it’s simply to document the things and moments that I see.

I wonder what Honda would think about this.

I probably should have backed up to take this photo in order to give it some more context. This photo was taken from the sidewalk outside this takeaway dumpling shop. The kitchen is in full view so you can see all the delicious dumplings being made. We did buy some dumplings from here and they were very good.

I just love all the colors.

This man was talking and shouting to no-one in particular. I can only assume his brain was starting to go. Sad to witness.

That pop of red from the shadows caught my attention, so of course I took a photo. I also thought the location was pretty great.

I found it amusing that he had just one small piece of bamboo debris.

Nowadays these old taxis have electric motors to help the driver. I’m actually surprised to see cycle taxies are still around.

I don’t know this man’s situation but it makes me sad to see a senior citizen have to ride a bicycle in the rain. Especially with luxury cars on either side of him.

The image of the surfer on the back wall caught my attention. I think this is the first time I’ve seen anything related to surfing in this area of China.

The sign translates to good weather for crops, but the somewhat faint graffiti below the sign was what caught my attention. This was on the side of a small restaurant.

Both the printed sign and the hand written text are advertising fortune telling. Only 30 Yuan. Located at one end of an ally way.

I wonder who the brooms belong to since this bakery has been closed for quite some time.

These men were at a restaurant that we were getting takeout from. While we waited for our takeout, these guys were being loud and generally obnoxious. They all behaved as if they were tough guys. I found it amusing that this one particular tough guy couldn’t take the small amount of drizzle coming down during his very short walk to the car and had to cover his hair and run to the car. Of course they all piled into a high-end Mercedes GLS class SUV. Gotta love that elitist attitude they displayed in the restaurant.
