ASIA TRIP 2024 – HONG KONG PT.2 – JULY 8
This was another day of errands mixed in with a trip to a record store for me and a trip a computer and video game arcade (shopping center). Little did we know just how annoying it was going to be finding our way around. It’d been many years since we were last in this particular area of Hong Kong and while we had GPS service on our phone, it was almost useless. I thought it was funny how T-mobile would send use a welcome text message when we arrived and how we’d receive FREE UNLIMITED DATA!!!! I will argue that is a complete lie as the data was severely limited with regards to bandwidth. The data was so slow that anything that required data was completely useless. This included mapping and GPS. I had plenty of signal but it didn’t matter when the ISP throttled the bandwidth so severely.
Again, since I’m writing this so long after the trip I don’t recall many details about the day. Even after looking at the pictures. Next time I travel, I really need to dedicate some time to recording some details about the day.
Windy days in a 40 story building can lead to lost laundry.
Morning exercise.
Another one of my favorite things about Hong Kong is how each subway station has its own vivid color theme made with small tiles. I hope they never change this.
Being a car/motorcycle guy I always enjoy seeing what other people are doing with their vehicles. Toyota 86 aka Hachi-Roku (ハチロク)
Some of the older buildings seem to stand out amongst the contemporary glass facade buildings.
I don’t know their story so I can only make assumptions. I do know that Hong Kong tends to rank highly as one of the world’s most expensive cities to live in which makes life difficult for most people. I hate to see this, especially considering that just a few people in the world have more wealth than entire countries.
It was a hot summer in Japan, Hong Kong and China.
Ed Warehouse, just a few doors down from the record store I was on my way to visit. I love to see car culture throughout the world.
White Noise Records. Like most independent record stores the owner was very helpful and made some suggestions for local music.
What do you think, is the owner a cat person or a dog person? The way the dog is portrayed and the fact that the cat is the doctor, I’m going to guess cat person. Or maybe the artist that made the mural had free rein and the owner didn’t provide direction. Maybe I should email Pulse Vet to ask.
Instead of the home shopping network you can see a live presentation on the street.
The massive amount of cameras hanging on the walls caught my eye so I decided to take a photo in case I had time to come back. Seems like the girl thought I stopped to take a photo of her.
Another street, another car. Nissan GTR.
The colors of the last few images are what compelled me to make the photographs.
A husky in the hot and humid city in summer just seems like animal cruelty to me.
His shirt made me miss surfing.
I loved riding public transit in Hong Kong. This the view from the train on the Tung Chung Line. 22°21'27.3"N 114°06'38.7"E

View from my bedroom. Sunset.
